All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi today called on the Indian government to deliver an “effective” response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, describing the incident as a “cowardly and painful” act that has dealt a heavy blow to Kashmir’s tourism sector.
Addressing reporters, Owaisi said,
“The Pahalgam terror attack has caused immense losses to the people of Kashmir, as tourists have left in fear. We want the Government to give an effective response, and we raised this demand at the All-Party Meeting as well.”
🔥 A Grim Reminder of Brutality
Owaisi strongly condemned the April 22 attack, in which 26 civilians were killed, reportedly by terrorists from Pakistan.
“What was even more painful was that women and children were separated, and men were forced to recite the kalima. Those who couldn’t were killed. This was a beastly act, and we strongly condemn it again,” Owaisi said.
🔍 Call for Investigation in Kulgam Death
Turning to the recent incident in Kulgam, where a 22-year-old youth died under disputed circumstances, Owaisi called for a thorough investigation.
“I have read the statements of his relatives, and the matter should be thoroughly inquired into,” he stressed.
🌊 India’s Review of Indus Waters Treaty
Owaisi also weighed in on India’s recent move to place the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan into “abeyance” in response to cross-border terror.
“There are also issues with the neutral experts and the arbitration process. Let’s see what happens next,” he remarked.
💬 Wider Political Reactions
Owaisi’s remarks join a growing chorus of political leaders urging strong, yet calibrated, action against Pakistan following India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure across the border.
